Proposed changes to the Jackson Place Redevelopment Plan and the Downtown Plan: The major change is that of commercial rather than the residential uses discussed in these Plans. Our belief is that, due to the opening of the Convention Center and to the proximity of the Biotech complexes, Jackson Ward, and the community, would be better served by a mostly commercial design such as we are proposing. The Project, as presented, serves the entire community and outside visitors equally, and will bring in much more tax revenue to the City than purely residential development would. Additionally, the number of people employed in a venture like this would be substantial, both during the construction phase, and post-construction, thereby bringing more money into Jackson Ward. |
